NSAWAM FEMALE PRISON IS A SAFE HAVEN - AKUAPEM POLOO

Akuapem Poloo"s Interview with Nana Akua

Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur, Akuapem Poloo has corrected a bizarre impression regarding Ghana's prison service. It can be recalled that the actress uploaded a semi-nude picture with her son to celebrate his birthday last year, which infuriated many people, particularly child rights activist, who spoke against the behavior and filed a compliant with the court which resulted in her sentencing a year later.

After spending a few days there, the actress stated that the only negative aspect of being behind bars is having your freedom taken away. Aside from that, the female prison is very clean, the atmosphere is calm and friendly, and the prison officers get along well with the inmates.

Speaking to Obomengniibaa Nana Akua on Nafti Radio's Edutainment 360, the actress stated that because of her son's birthday, she wanted to give back to society by donating some gifts to the officials and prisoners of Nsawam Female Prison to thank them for taking care of her while she was there.

She added that she was released during quarantine while preparing for her 90-day term, so she didn't enter the prison itself, but she could see the officers and inmates and felt like she was in a boarding school.

She assured Ghanaians that she had learnt her lesson the hard way and that she would no longer upload semi-naked images on the internet.
