ROYAL AID FOUNDATION LAUNCHES PROJECT TO SUPPORT BOY CHILD EDUCATION.
The Royal Aid Foundation has launched the He Empowering Lot More She's (HELMS) project at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly Auditorium to support boy child education and empowerment.
According to Dr. S. K Frimpong, the founder of HELMS, the global focus has been on girl child education and empowerment, which is increasingly becoming unbalanced. The empowered girls will grow up to be highly educated, but the less educated and empowered boys would become a societal nuisance. The females, on the other hand, will not marry them since they cannot matchup. As a result, the He Empowering Lot More She's (HELMS) foundation empowers more boys in order to empower more girls, hence the name.
He continued by saying that , the goal is to develop a balance between male and female empowerment, which may be achieved by encouraging boys and girls to work together to achieve academic success in the classroom.
Dr. Frimpong also mentioned that the project will be conducted throughout Ghana, with 17 mentors ready to follow them as they educate the boys in each of the country's 16 regions.
According to him, they will engage with Regional Ministers and District Chief Executives because of the boys who are not attending school. His organization will also work with the District and Regional Education Directors to target students in schools through the clubs they will establish. They will also work with Clergies because there are boys in churches and mosques.
He added that, plans have been made, and it's only a matter of implementing them.
The event was attended by a number of officials, including the guest speaker, Honorable Lariba Zuweira Abudu, Deputy Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection. Elizabeth Ohene, former Minister of State for Education, and media personality Abeiku Santana.
